Australia defeated first-time finalists India in the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup final in Melbourne to clinch the title for a record fifth time. Australia received total prize money of Rs 7.4 crore and India who finished runners-up, got Rs 3.7 crore. Australia women opener Alyssa Healy set the record for scoring the fastest fifty in just 30 balls in the history of ICC event finals across formats (both men and women).
The record was previously held by Hardik Pandya (32 balls). Meanwhile, India women opener Shafali Verma has become the youngest cricketer (male or female) to play in an ICC World Cup final. Shafali achieved the feat at 16 years 40 days and broke the record previously held by West Indies’ Shaquana Quintyne (17 years 45 days).
