Tasmanian devils reintroduced to wild in mainland Australia, for first time in 3000 years

It was once native to mainland Australia and was only found in the wild on the island state of Tasmania. The animal had died out on the mainland after the arrival of dingoes. It has now been reintroduced to New South Wales with small breeding population of these carnivorous marsupials released into a wildlife sanctuary north of Sydney.
