Yulin dog meat festival takes place in China amidst COVID-19

The 10-day annual festival took place from June 21-30 in Yulin in mainland China. The festival usually attracts thousands of visitors. It began in 2009 to mark the summer solstice but the custom can be traced back at least 400 years in China. Around 1,000 dogs are killed every year though eating dogs is not legal in China.

There is a strong opposition to dog killing. The World Health Organization has also warned that the dog trade spreads rabies and increases the risk of cholera. Dogs are our companion and let’s oppose these events and save them! Let us choose to be kind!!
